Fight Stubborn Fat with CoolSculpting

CoolSculpting

Do you struggle with stubborn body fat despite your efforts of eating healthy and getting regular exercise? Sometimes, even with a healthy and active lifestyle, we are still plagued by trouble zones of body fat around our arms, legs or abdomen. Maybe you’ve even considered plastic surgery – well now you don’t have to.

Now there is a new way of removing unwanted fat from the body without surgery. Doctors that were conducting weight loss research noticed that children who regularly sucked on popsicles would often grow up having dimples in their cheeks. They determined that this was because the cold from the popsicles was freezing the fat cells in their cheeks. By the time these children became adults, the frozen fat had been naturally drained from their cheeks. Doctors are now using this same principle to remove unwanted fat from the bodies of their patients.

This new technique is called CoolSculpting. It was created by two Harvard doctors and has been cleared by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) for use in removing fat around the abdomen, waist and thighs. A specially engineered device is placed on the area to be treated then freezes the fat cells right beneath it. Once the fat cells are frozen, they are drained from the body naturally. It often takes 6 to 12 weeks to see the results of the procedure.

A patient can lose half an inch from their waistline in just one one-hour treatment session. However, it usually takes up to four treatments to get full results for the patient. Although the same area can be treated multiple times, doctors administering the treatments say that the first treatment is usually the most effective.

Side effects of the procedure are minimal, but can include redness, swelling and bruising around the treated area. It doesn’t last for long though, and there are only rare examples of longer, more painful side effects. With no down time needed, patients can continue with their everyday lives immediately after leaving the hospital.

The CoolSculpting procedure works well as long as it’s done on the right kind of patient. It’s not intended for people who need large amounts of fat removed from their bodies in order to save them from negative health effects. It’s for cosmetic reasons only; for people who can stand to lose a few inches around the waist, thighs and abdomen.

Although the frozen fat cells drain from the body naturally, the fat cells around the treated area can multiply and expand. So, it’s important for patients to continue to exercise and eat a healthy diet regularly to keep this from happening. If exercise and a healthy diet have not been part of a patient’s lifestyle, it should be adopted as soon as possible after being treated.

If you’re tired of dealing with stubborn body fat, CoolSculpting could be the right solution for you. At Doctors Approach our Med Spa will work with you to help you get the results you want.
