What is PRP?
Platelet Rich Plasma therapy uses the body’s own platelet rich plasma cells to stimulate skin rejuvenation. During treatment, a small amount of blood is drawn from the patient and placed in a sterile tube. This tube is spun in a centrifuge that gradually separates the blood from the platelets within it. This isolated plasma typically contains between a five and ten times higher concentration of platelets than normal blood.
How Does it Work?
Within the body, platelets work to help restore, regenerate, and strengthen tissue in countless areas of the body. Platelets are so effective in healing the body because they contain a wide variety of different growth factors that provide nourishment and strength to the body’s cells.
When injected into the body during a PRP treatment, these platelets act as a matrix that encourages the patient’s body to produce extra collagen. Collagen is a structural protein that supports the skin, making it tighter, smoother, and firmer when it’s present in large amounts.
