Doctor’s Approach is excited to announce Dr. Christopher Messana will be joining the team starting April 24th. Dr. Messana obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and then graduated from Midwestern University, Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Messana’s path as a physician leader formally began when his medical school peers elected him student government president. He was later honored to be elected national student government president and had the privilege of serving his profession as the student representative of the American Osteopathic Association in his final year of medical school. He completed his dermatology residency training at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
After residency, he enjoyed a busy general and surgical dermatology practice in Northern Michigan for approximately three years. Dr. Messana was then selected from an exceptionally qualified pool of applicants to complete an additional year of fellowship training in Mohs micrographic surgery and dermatologic oncology at the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. In addition to his expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of all diseases of the skin, hair and nails, Dr. Messana has particular interest and expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of all forms of skin cancer and specializes in skin cancer surgery and reconstruction. He is a member of the prestigious American College of Mohs Surgery.
Dr. Messana is published in the dermatology literature and has presented on many topics in dermatology at national, international and state dermatology meetings, including the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology and the Michigan Dermatological Society.
Dr. Messana has a wonderful wife and a beautiful daughter. He is passionate about providing excellent, compassionate and personalized care for his patients using a team-based approach. Dr. Messana treasures his family, friends, and many outdoor recreation activities, including hiking, biking, skiing, running, and swimming.
